30 years at Slee, and time flies!

We celebrated a very special anniversary with Hans-Peter Könen!

30 years at the same company: Congratulations, Hans-Peter!

When Hans-Peter Könen started at Slee, it was the beginning of 1995. Fancy a little trip down memory lane?

  • Hans-Peter Könen starts his new job at Slee. The job description is so nice that we want to share it. HPK described himself as a “jack of all trades” in a still small company. Among others, the job included construction, revision, sales support and controll of deadlines.

Today, we find him working as a service technician in the mostly international service, as well as instructor for trainings for international service.

What else happened:

  • Austria, Sweden and Finland join the EU.
  • The 1990 Schengen Agreement enters into force.
  • The first Castor container reaches Gorleben.
  • Great Britain. Occupation of the Brent Spar oil platform by Greenpeace activists.
  • Jacques Chirac is elected President of France.
  • The Bundestag approves a Bundeswehr mission in Bosnia.
  • The French nuclear weapons test on the Mururoa Atoll triggers serious unrest in Tahiti.
  • AntĂłnio Guterres becomes the new Prime Minister of Portugal.
  • The EU heads of state and government agree on the euro as the common currency. It was agreed that January 1, 1999 would be the date of introduction.
  • In Cottbus, the first Federal Garden Show in the territory of the new federal states was opened to visitors.
  • In Tokyo, leading electronics manufacturers agreed on a common technical standard for DVDs.
  • The Soviet cosmonaut Valery Polyakov returned to Earth after the longest-lasting stay in a spaceship, which lasted 417 days.
  • The first UN Climate Change Conference (COP 1) takes place in Berlin from March 28 to April 7.
  • Microsoft releases its new Windows 95 operating system.
  • The Airbus A319 takes off on its first flight from Hamburg-Finkenwerder.
  • In Munich, local politicians, trade associations and the media organize a so-called “beer garden revolution” against plans to extend the closing hours of beer gardens.
  • Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Wrapped Reichstag, Berlin, 1971–1995.
  • The first episode of the Harald Schmidt Show goes live in Cologne’s Capitol.
  • BackRub is developed, the forerunner of Google.
  • Balloonist Steve Fossett is the first person to cross the Pacific Ocean in a balloon. After a four-day journey, the adventurer and billionaire, who started in South Korea, landed in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
  • George Foreman wins his boxing match and title defense in the heavyweight division against Axel Schulz in Las Vegas by controversial points victory.
  • Borussia Dortmund is German champion again after 32 years. With a 2-0 win against Hamburger Sportverein, the Westphalians secured their first title in the Bundesliga. The 1994/95 season was the last one with the old two-point rule.
  • Michael Schumacher becomes Formula 1 world champion for the second time with Benetton.

To celebrate the day, Hans-Peter ordered a bunch of burgers that could be put together by the team. Thank you very much for that! We all found it super delicious!
